Вредное воздействие горных работ по-прежнему остается проблемой, которую общество должно признать и решить. Отчеты об устойчивом развитии чаще всего фокусируются на том, насколько ответственно компании вносят положительный вклад и управляют рисками ESG. Сам термин «риски ESG» стал эвфемизмом для обозначения потенциально вредных воздействий горной добычи. В контексте перехода к современным методам получения энергии, субъекты отрасли теперь используют термин «зеленая» горнодобыча, а горные работы называют «перспективной» промышленной отраслью. Тем не менее, вредные воздействия от ведения горной добычи сохраняются, и необходимо дать конкретные названия этим рискам: вредные для людей, окружающей среды и экономики стран производителей, в случае, если их предотвращение оказывается безуспешным.
На основе общедоступной информации (см. Библиотеку документов ниже), отчет «Вредное воздействие горной добычи: когда добыча вредит людям, окружающей среде и экономике» демонстрирует, что вредные воздействия не являются неотвратимыми, тем не менее, они происходят по всему миру, а не только в юрисдикциях с ограниченным регулирующим надзором. В отчете содержится призыв к стандартизации процедур по предотвращению вредных воздействий во всей отрасли.

Основные виды воздействия, выявленные в ходе исследования

Задача исследования
В этом отчете представлены результаты недавнего исследования, проведенного Фондом Responsible Mining Foundation, направленного на изучение вредного воздействия горных работ на экономику, экологию, социальную и управленческую сферы (EESG), посредством оценки деятельности 38 крупных горнодобывающих компаний (включенных в Отчет RMI за 2020 год). На эти компании в совокупности приходится около 28% мировой добычи полезных ископаемых. Речь идет о компаниях из 18 стран, осуществляющих производство в 55 странах-производителях и эксплуатирующих около 1000 участков добычи по всему миру.
